
The purpose of the TPA’s Transportation Alternatives (TA) grant reimbursement program is to help fund connected infrastructure for non-motorized users. This federal program, in agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), is an annual competitive application process where projects are submitted to the TPA and then ranked and prioritized for funding of approximately $5.1M annually. Eligible entities include local governments, regional transportation authorities, transit agencies, natural resource or public land agencies, school districts, local education agencies, and tribal governments in Palm Beach County.
Eligible projects include non-motorized infrastructures, such as sidewalk facilities, bicycle facilities, Trailways, complete streets projects, Safe Routes to School (SRTS) projects, lighting, and safety-related infrastructure. - Resolution of support from facility owner(s) clearly indicating that the project may be constructed as proposed and committing to fund ongoing operations and maintenance of the project – due within 60 days of application due date. Example: West Palm Beach Resolution (PDF)
- Commitment Letter from the administering agency’s director of Engineering or Public Works Department clearly indicating they will “administer and construct the project if funded by the Palm Beach Transportation Planning Agency’s (TPA).” Example: 1.
