As the year progresses, the Palm Beach TPA is excited to share updates on key transportation-related initiatives and events across Palm Beach County from the last quarter. From the Safe Streets Summit to TPA-led bicycle rides, the TPA has had an exciting start to the year! Below are a few highlights from the first few months of 2025.

Safe Streets Summit – February 2025
In February, the TPA hosted the highly anticipated Safe Streets Summit in West Palm Beach, bringing together transportation professionals, local leaders, and community partners for a productive conference focused on enhancing safety for all road users. The summit gathered regional transportation leaders from Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties, along with national and international speakers, to discuss strategies for creating safer and more efficient transportation options. The 2025 theme, “Mobility at the Heart of it All,” emphasized how investing in mobility solutions not only improves quality of life but also supports economic growth in the region. The Summit also included Mobile Workshops across West Palm Beach and Boca Raton with topics including bicycle infrastructure, autonomous vehicles, Blue Zone communities across the world, and more. Thank you to all attendees for making the 2025 Safe Streets Summit the best yet!

Florida Bicycle Month – March 2025
Florida Bicycle Month is celebrated every March, ahead of National Bike Month in May, and is all about enjoying bicycling for fun, fitness, and transportation. This year, the Palm Beach TPA encouraged municipalities to adopt Florida Bicycle Month proclamations, resulting in 17 proclamations adopted! The TPA also hosted two bicycle rides—one on the newly constructed separated bicycle lanes on Lyons Road, and another around downtown West Palm Beach, where riders had the opportunity to see four TPA-funded projects along the route. The TPA also hosted a bicycle safety webinar and attended various community events. We look forward to another great Florida Bicycle Month next year!

Lyons Road/Sansburys Way Ribbon Cutting – March 2025
The TPA joined Palm Beach County to celebrate the completion of the new separated bicycle lanes on Lyons Road/Sansburys Way, marking a first-of-its-kind project on a county roadway. Selected as part of the TPA’s Funding Programs in 2018, the project prioritizes safety and enhances bicycle facilities along a key route that connects schools, homes, the South Florida Fairgrounds, and Okeeheelee Park. Congratulations to Palm Beach County on the completion of this exciting project!

E-Bike and E-Scooter Safety Event – April 2025
The TPA hosted an event to promote safe e-bicycling and e-scootering, addressing the growing popularity of electric bikes and scooters. The event focused on the unique safety considerations for these modes of transportation, with attendees learning about operational safety, proper maintenance, and the rules of the road to ensure a safer experience for all users

National Bike Month Preview – May 2025
National Bike Month is celebrated annually every May, promoting the many benefits of bicycling and inspiring more people to give it a try. Whether it’s for fitness, commuting, or recreation, National Bike Month highlights how biking can positively impact both individuals and communities. It encourages people of all ages and skill levels to hop on a bike and experience the joy and rewards of cycling. Learn more about ways to get involved at BikeLeague.org/Events/Bike-Month.
