Join the Downtown Development Authority of West Palm Beach and the Palm Beach TPA for a mobile tour focused on walkability and placemaking in the heart of downtown. This tour will highlight how West Palm Beach is leveraging public-private partnerships, placemaking, and effective outdoor activation strategies to enhance the quality of life for residents, visitors, and employees, thereby creating a more vibrant downtown WPB.
Participants will begin their tour with a brief networking session and presentations highlighting how land use, design, and zoning policies enhance the quality of life through activated public spaces. Presenters will also discuss strategies for balancing growth with livability, advancing complete streets, and fostering partnerships that support community identity and economic vitality.
Following the briefing, participants will complete a walking tour of multiple downtown sites to explore:
- Completed placemaking projects that have redefined public space and improved pedestrian comfort.
- Ongoing initiatives designed to enhance transportation options throughout the downtown.
- Future opportunities and challenges, including integration with transit, expansion of active transportation networks, and innovative approaches to creating memorable, people-focused places.
This mobile tour is designed for planners, engineers, citizens, elected officials, developers, and policymakers interested in how walkability and placemaking strategies can strengthen community identity, support economic growth, and create resilient, livable downtowns.
